(5b) Protecting Ourselves From the Devil (Satan)

We give praise to the Lord for His faithfulness in strengthening and protecting us from Satan.  Fulfilling these promises requires us to be obedient to God's word.  In this second subsection of Ephesians 6:10-18, we review verses13-15:

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

We have already been told that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against “spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places,” and that is, against Satan and His demons.  And now, that being the case, Ephesians 6:13-15 begins with the word, “Therefore.”  Here is a clear reason that we need to “put on the full armor of God.”  The armor we are called to put on is nothing we can put on from our own arsenal.  We are entirely helpless when matched to Satan and his demons.

As believers, we need to fortify ourselves with the Lord’s protection. We are reminded of the wording shown in the above image that, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”  Regardless of the evil that may ever beset us, we are assured of the Lord’s comfort from His rod, and His staff. (Psalm 23:4 [NKJV])

We are further fortified when we commit to memory, other Bible verses with assurance of the Lord’s protection.  God presents His Truth in His word, and when His states, “Stand firm then, with the belt of trust buckled around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, we are saturated with God’s guarantee to us of His seal of protection.  I recommend you undertake a Google search for Bible verses showing God’s peace, His, Protection, and His Holiness.  Satan hates it when we arm ourselves with God’s word.  He is no match when it comes to us arming ourselves with God’s word.  Satan is no match for our Heavenly Father no matter what Satan tries to do.

You plus God represent a formidable majority.  Claim it, believe it, and meditate on these truths as you commit to memory some of the verses you find about God’s peace, His, Protection, and His Holiness.
