(2) The Word Became Flesh

This verse is the epitome of who Jesus is, from eternity past to eternity future.

In this one verse, we are able to establish that Jesus didn't only exist from the time He was born as a baby.

In John 1:1, we read:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

It was this Word, the full essence of God, that became flesh in the form of a baby, Jesus.  Jesus spent thirty years on earth just like any other human being, while being fully God, born of a virgin, before beginning His ministry for three years on earth.

In Luke 1:30-35, we read:

The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

This is the Jesus in whom you have believed, the one whom you have received as your Personal Savior.  The one spoken of in John 1:14 in the above image.

Also, in Colossians 2:9-10, we read: For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form and in Him you have been made complete, and He is head over all rule and authority.

Jesus became fully God and fully man.  In our weakness, His strength prevails.  The fact that He was crucified on the cross, was buried and rose again, therein is our confidence to know that we too will go to be with Him for all eternity when we leave this world.

Finally, in John 14:3, we read:  If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.

Our journey of Beginning and Deeping Our Christian Walk has some wonderful experiences as we learn more and more about God's word and apply it to our lives.  If you have recently received Christ as your Personal Savior, continue to read the book of John.
